Hey all. We’re really excited to let you all know that we’ve got a show with a brand new band in a few weeks. Well, they’re kind of new. The band formerly known as Tifah, now known as “The Autumn Film,” will be gracing us with their presence once again on September 15 at the great Paddy O’Quigleys. Show starts at 10:30pm and cover is $4. This is the best four dollar concert you may ever attend in your life. Really. Check out The Autumn Film’s website and myspace.

Thought we’d do a quick update on where the band is at today. We’ve been taking it a little slower the past few weeks. Working on some new material for our next shows and generally taking it a little easier. The search for a drummer is in full swing, so if any of you know of anyone that is 1) a good drummer, 2) a good person, and 3) wanting to commit to a band more than “for fun” then feel free to send us their name. Other points of interest, Patrick has spent the past couple weeks down in Wichita working towards a pilots license and Tim has been hard at work on a new house he and Mandy just purchased. Look for another vidcast here in the next few days.

Jeff Moore was kind enough to send us a bunch of live shots from various shows. These are unedited, because that would take a long time. We’ve also started a Moving Rushmore Flickr group so if you want to join up and send us your MR pictures that would be a blast! It could be pictures at shows, pics of you in MR apparel, or pics of you at mount rushmore. Up to you!

I was just checking the stats for the vidcasts today and since we’ve been measuring downloads, we’ve had over 11,000! If I would have been paying more attention we could have had a little celebration when we passed the 10,000 mark, but since we already missed it, we’ll have to celebrate at 50,000 or something. So spread the word!

I’ve been working at my job for about a month and a half now. It’s been a little bit of a rough transition. I get home at 5pm, eat dinner, and then there’s not much time left in the day for friends, things like watching movies, working on vidcasts, etc… Its been difficult for me to engage life on a deeper than superficial level these past few weeks. Oh, and we bought a house! Check it out!
There have been very few times in life where I felt like I had a healthy balance of work, play, and rest. A few of the guys got together last night at Old Chicago and we just chatted about what’s coming up in the next month or two for the band, and it was so refreshing. We’ve got a few potential leads on drummers, and that makes me excited. I don’t think the realities have set in of the Brent’s absence. But in a way its a good thing because now we’re being forced to spend a little time finishing things like the press kit, write a few new songs, and evaluating how the last several months have gone. Its good to have a little bit of a break, but at the same time its going to be important for us to keep up our momentum in the interim period of finding a new drummer. And hopefully this will be a good opportunity to have some fun vidcast material, assuming I can commit the time to get them done in the midst of house repairs. If you want to see a little walk through of our new house you can check out www.theseleys.com. Til next time…
