Well its official! Patrick and Tim have officially launched New Music Monday!  We’ll be releasing a new song for free download each week for the next six months starting today!  If you’d like we’ve setup a podcast over at the new site newmusicmonday.com and as always we’d be really appreciative if you took a few minutes and took a listen/gave some feedback on itunes.  Let us know what you think of the new site!

Thanks for all of the feedback everyone!   After much deliberating, tallying of votes, and reviewing all of the input, the name of the new side project is… Sidetrack Monday!  We got lots of great suggestions and we thought we’d share a few standouts.  NOTE: The names and suggestions here are not those of Sidetrack Monday, Moving Rushmore, or any associated parties.

We need your help.  And by we, I mean Patrick and Tim. We have moved to Kansas City and are going to be giving a lot more time to the music thing.  Along with MR we’ll be doing a side project where we record and release a new song every Monday (hence our new domain newmusicmonday.com.)  What we need now is a name for our side project.  Here’s a few possibilities that we’ve come up with.  Ideally we want something that is simple, memorable, and possibly visual.

We’d also love it if you left a comment below as to what you like about the name you chose.  If you have a good alternative name post that as well.  We’d really appreciate any help you can give us.

Are you all in Moving Rushmore withdrawal?  Because we are.  But not for long!  We have a couple of shows coming up down in the Wichita area in the next month.  The first show will be a benefit for the victims of the Myanmar cyclone September 20, 7pm at “The Avenue” (612 S. Commerce). And for the second show we get to open for the one (two) and only Shane and Shane!  It’ll be at the El Dorado Middle School Sept 28, also at 7pm (500 W Central Ave) and tickets are ten bucks.  Should be a great time!

Tickets can be purchased at the door for both shows.

UPDATE: Preorder tickets for the Shane and Shane show is now available.

Well its official.  Pack made the move a little over a month ago and now Tim is in KC as well, although currently homeless.  The next year is going to be very exciting.  We’ve got new songs, new ideas, and more importantly time to work on all of them as both Tim and Pack are currently unemployed (anyone need a part time video guy?)  Stay tuned!

We’ve got a couple of fun updates for all of you out there.  First off… maybe you’ve heard of this little thing called the iPhone.  Well Tapulous is one of the most popular developers for the iphone and they are currently having a contest for their most popular app called Tap Tap Revenge.  Its kind of like Rock Band for the iPhone.  Winner gets to have their song included in the program.  So if you have a few minutes to kill… go ahead and spend it voting for us!  Vote here! Feel free to vote no for everyone else…

And secondofly we’ve got a fun announcement.  Tim is a big home theater nut and as such built his own home theater pc.  His software of choice: SageTV.  It basically turns your computer into a tivo.  Well… the folks over at Sage were kind enough to include the Moving Rushmore vidcast in their program!

So if any of you are home theater nuts out there… SageTV just got that much cooler.  So buy it!  Get your Oprah and Moving Rushmore fix in one convenient place!

We all knew it was a matter of time before Dave found his true calling… talent show celebrity guest judge! That’s right, Dave was a guest judge on Harrah’s Lucky Break on Tuesday. For those of you in the KC area (and some surrounding) the show airs on Saturday nights at 11pm on KMBC channel 9. If you’ve got cable in Manhattan its channel 14. Its been awhile, but things are picking up.  We’ve had a handful of practices this past month and we’re in the process of booking a handful of shows.  Keep yours eyes open and we’ll let you know when we’ve got some firm dates.

I’m sad to report that the hard drive that contained all of the Moving Rushmore vidcast material is now defunct.  SO despite the fact that there was over 50 hours of footage captured on there as well as some new vidcast material, we will not be deterred!  At least not indefinitely.  So I’ve decided this is a good time to switch video formats so you can look forward to (hopefully) some higher quality material and a return to some regularity.  Stay tuned!  And a moment of silence for that stupid hard drive…

We had the chance to be interviewed awhile back for the CD Baby Podcast.  It was a lot of fun and the funny thing is by the end of the interview it turned into us interviewing Kevin.  He was the guitarist for a band that some of you might remember as Small Town Poets and he gave us some tips on being a band and everything that it entails.  Make sure and check out the interview!

There have been very few times in life where I felt like I had a healthy balance of work, play, and rest. A few of the guys got together last night at Old Chicago and we just chatted about what’s coming up in the next month or two for the band, and it was so refreshing. We’ve got a few potential leads on drummers, and that makes me excited. I don’t think the realities have set in of the Brent’s absence. But in a way its a good thing because now we’re being forced to spend a little time finishing things like the press kit, write a few new songs, and evaluating how the last several months have gone. Its good to have a little bit of a break, but at the same time its going to be important for us to keep up our momentum in the interim period of finding a new drummer. And hopefully this will be a good opportunity to have some fun vidcast material, assuming I can commit the time to get them done in the midst of house repairs. It stirs something in me because these things have historically been a little foreign to me.  So much of my life, in an effort to protect myself from embarrassment, pain, and failure I’ve not allowed my self to live, desire, dream or feel deeply.  But these things are changing.  And although change is slow I long to be a passionate man who lives life with few regrets… 

That’s why, sink or swim, Moving Rushmore isn’t looking back.  And we’re enjoying the journey!
